New Tool: Pace Calculator

In our articles about improving aerobic capacity, running economy and lactate threshold, we’ve discussed paces at which you should run various workouts. These paces have been described in somewhat vague terms like “hard”, “a few seconds faster than your 5K race pace” and “right around the pace you can race for an hour”. If you’ve been frustrated by those vague terms, then be frustrated no more!

We’d like to introduce our handy calculator to give you actual target paces for your longer runs and target time ranges for your interval workouts. (Hold your applause…)

The target paces are based on formulas developed by running coach and physiologist Jack Daniels, Ph.D. All you have to do is enter a recent race time, and the calculator will do the rest!

So go on! Check out our training pace calculator and start rocking those speed workouts!
