About Us

The mission of the Digital Running Club is to promote running & healthy living with fun, educational content and events centered around the community of digitalrunning.com. We believe that everyone is a runner and we believe in the social aspect of what is generally considered an individual sport. As an online community, we strive to provide instruction, support and entertainment that will extend beyond cyberspace and into the real world. Thanks so much for visiting, and we hope you become an active part of our club simply by reading, learning and commenting.

Normally, this would be the spot where we’d give you a history of the club.  Someday we will, but right now, we’re too busy making that history.  Please join the various discussions around the site.  We’d love to meet you!  If you have any suggestions for content you’d like to see on the site, events you’d be interested in attending or anything else, please contact us. Brian Darrow, Ph.D.
Brian Darrow is a running coach who specializes in beginning runners. Now an avid runner himself, Brian’s running career did not begin until shortly before his 30th birthday. Although he was unable to run a mile without stopping on that day, Brian has gone on to compete for age-group awards in road race distances ranging from 5K to the marathon.  Sometimes, he even wins.

A scientist at heart, Brian is known as a student of the sport and a “data junkie”. He provides running coaching and training programs for adults and competitive high school athletes across the United States via the internet. Brian also coaches high school track and field in St. Petersburg, FL where he resides with his wife, two daughters, and his dog, Kaboodles. Read more about Brian at ARunnersBlog.com.

Tracy Gariepy
Tracy is a certified personal trainer with the National Academy of Sports Medicine. She’s employed by a major fitness footwear retailer as a Regional Product and Sales Trainer. By working in what she considers to be “as close to a dream job as you can get,” Tracy gets to travel the east coast while educating her co-workers and potential clients on the benefits of embracing a healthy lifestyle.

Together with her beloved husband and three children, the family shares a love of animals and the outdoors. They manage an equine rescue farm and enjoy running together. Since deciding to run competitively last year, Tracy has completed a myriad of races, including three half marathons and one full marathon.

Katherine Pennington
Katherine PenningtonKatherine Pennington is a diet and lifestyle coach, writer, and founder of Be in Balance, which helps women and men lose weight, reduce stress and achieve more balance in their lives. Katherine is also an avid runner and marathoner and also advises athletes on how to fuel for maximum performance and health.

Katherine graduated from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition/Columbia Teachers College and is a member of the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. Katherine resides in New York City and is the mother to two beautiful children. To find out more, go to www.be-n-balance.com.

Barb Bergerson
Barb Bergerson lives in Western New York. She wrote a year-long column for Digital Running focusing on getting back into the game of life. With Brian as her coach and her column “Downsizing” as her outlet, Barb candidly expressed her triumphs and setbacks as she shed almost 100 pounds. Raffi Darrow, Editor
Raffi is affectionately known as the Digital Running Club “Team Mom”. With over 14 years of Mommy-ing under her belt, she’ll sort out the details before an event and make sure the juice boxes are kept on ice. As our online Editor, her 15+ years of writing, marketing & graphic design experience come in handy. If you find a typo here, you can blame it on her – as long as you do it nicely.

She’s kind of a health nut, and loves to share healthy recipes. Raffi loves Yoga, chocolate, Disney, reading, and talking about Yoga, chocolate, Walt Disney World or great books.
